LymphomaThere are several potential causes of lymphadenopathy, ranging from infectious, autoimmune, malignant, and lymphoproliferative. While a majority of lymphadenopathy will have a benign etiology, many patients experience a great deal of anxiety over the problem because of the association with dangerous etiologies. The variability in causes of lymphadenopathy can often present diagnostic challenges to clinicians. To reduce confusion and to improve diagnostic accuracy, it is important to develop a systematic approach to the evaluation and management of lymphadenopathy. This presentation will provide a framework for physicians to use in the evaluation and management of lymphadenopathy.
Learning Objectives
1. Assess the size, location, and character of the lymph nodes, as well as any related physical findings.
2. Discuss anatomy of lymphatic system and histology of lymph nodes
3. Describe the criteria for significant weight loss and relation between weight loss & malignancy
4. Develop a systematic approach to evaluation and management of lymphadenopathy
