Lung Cancer, Oncology, Respiratory, and SurgeryLung cancer is the third most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Early detection is necessary in reducing the mortality of these individuals. As healthcare providers, it is imperative to know when intervention is warranted. This session will help providers take the necessary steps to work up suspicious nodules, understand the various types of non-small cell lung cancer, and familiarize themselves with the various surgical techniques used in removal of lung nodules.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the steps in working up a suspicious lung nodule.
- Compare the various surgical approaches for lung nodule removal.
- Utilize the TNM system for staging of a NSCLC 4. Understand the etiology of lung cancer.
Speakers

Katlin Brower is a board-certified Physician Assistant in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Brower earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Harding University. Ms. Brower began her career as a PA in Hospital Medicine at Corewell Health. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to new cities and finding new hiking trails.
